What is craniosacral therapy?

Craniosacral therapy is a gentle, non-invasive way of working on the body using light touch and holding techniques. Developed from osteopathy it works on the craniosacral system which includes the bones of the skull, face and spine. Through gentle touch in these areas, the therapist can feel imbalances and restrictions in the body caused by past trauma and stress. Falls, accidents, muscular and nervous tension can all cause restrictions. Craniosacral therapists can help release these restrictions and help rebalance the body. Most people find this a deeply relaxing treatment.

What can craniosacral therapy help with?

Most Visitors find that craniosacral therapy is very helpful in supporting them with breast cancer related problems. They say that it helped with physical aches and pains as well as emotional difficulties and stress. It is deeply relaxing and calming and can help to relieve some of the side effects of medical treatment. There are no rigorous research studies to demonstrate the benefits of craniosacral therapy in breast cancer.

Number and length of appointments

A minimum of three appointments is recommended for you to feel the benefit. Each treatment lasts up to 50 minutes.

Treatment Information

Craniosacral therapy is so gentle that it can be used at any time. You remain fully clothed for this treatment. You may feel tired after the treatment so it is important to allow yourself time to relax afterwards. We do not recommend that you have another touch therapy or acupuncture on the same day to allow time for the body to benefit fully from the craniosacral therapy.
