Trusts and Foundations
The Haven is grateful for the generous support it receives from grant making Trusts and Foundations, particularly in funding specific projects. If you are involved with a Trust or Foundation, we would be delighted to meet with you and show you around one of our Havens so you can see first-hand how your grant could help us help more people with breast cancer.
"I'll never forget my first visit to the Haven in Fulham, London. From the street outside I'd never have guessed the standard of the facilities or the incredible sense of caring I felt from all the staff when I stepped in. It was immediately clear to me that this is an organisation that is delivering a very unusual service to support women and their families in a very special setting. Given Sodexo's heritage in food, supporting the Haven's nutritional programme through the Sodexo Foundation, our registered charity, struck me as a 'no-brainer'. I'm also thrilled that our women's network group, Women Work, has decided to adopt the Haven as its charity. While it's early days yet, I look forward to learning more about the Haven's excellent work and how we can support it further."
Natalie Bickford, HR director, Sodexo and Sodexo Foundation trustee
“The Haven is a wonderful organisation providing much needed care for cancer sufferers and their families. Sadly many Freemasons have seen their lives touched by breast cancer, so when we learnt of The Haven’s plans to open in Yorkshire in 2008, we were very keen to help. Our donation of £250,000 funded a group therapy room which is an integral place in the Haven. It is used for support groups, exercise classes, talks and workshops as well as a place for people to meet and talk to others going through a similar experience. It gives us a great sense of satisfaction to know that our contribution will help thousands of women and their families across Yorkshire at such a difficult time in their lives. This year, we have demonstrated our continued support for the charity and their work by making a further grant of £15,000 towards the key post of Clinical Nurse Specialist in Hereford. Our grant sits alongside many other generous donations made by individual Masons, Lodges, and Provincial Grand Lodges.”
Laura Chapman, Chief Executive, The Freemasons’ Grand Charity
“We have long admired the work of The Haven and particularly its acupuncture therapy, which has helped so many women over the past ten years. We were pleased to have the opportunity to visit The Haven in London and see for ourselves the quality of this service and just what a difference it makes. Knowing that our grants would be used wisely and for exactly the purposes specified, we have been happy to give our support. The professionalism of The Haven staff has impressed us and we wish this wonderful charity every success.”
Adrian Marks, Trustee, The Maurice Marks Charitable Trust
“For nearly ten years The Pink Ribbon Foundation has supported the work of The Haven. We wholeheartedly identify with the organisation’s focus on caring for the individual, and have funded a variety of activities: frontline therapy services, professional training for the clinical staff and a project to raise awareness of Haven services among the Yorkshire breast care nurse community. For the last two years we have been delighted to support a one-day training session in key developments in breast cancer treatment for therapists across all three Havens. We believe that this ongoing input by The Haven’s clinical team ensures that all those providing therapies and care to Visitors on a daily basis continue to have an excellent knowledge base that reflects The Haven’s specialism in integrated breast cancer care.”
Jonathan Prince, Chair of the Trustees, The Pink Ribbon Foundation
“At Simplyhealth we have high standards and we expect the same of any charity we support. From the outset, The Haven has met our expectations. It offers an outstanding quality of care and support for thousands of breast cancer patients, helping them through one of the worst times in their lives and giving them hope for the future. We have also been delighted by the friendly, efficient service we have received as donors, with our grants for the therapy services at the Leeds Haven and most recently for the charity’s research and outreach work. We are pleased that this partnership has clearly been a win-win for everyone – and most importantly for the women and families to whom The Haven means so much.”
Terry Hardy, Chairman of Simplyhealth Charitable Committee
