Yoga is an Indian philosophy and practise. The word 'yoga' means 'union' or 'integration' and yoga uses stretching postures, and breathing to heal harmonise the body, midn and spirit. It can be a comprehensive means of self-development and self0understanding helping our relationship with ourselves as well as the world outside us.
There are many schools of yoga and the classes at The Haven are Hatha Yoga. These classes consist of modified asanas (postures) using supports for the body when needed to help maintain movement in the upper body, shoulders and arms, which is vital after surgery and treatment for breast cancer.
Yoga can help a Visitor with breast cancer as it both relaxes and energises whilst bringing flexibility, strength, concentration, self-confidence and peacefulness.
It is best not to have food two hours before class and to wear loose comfortable clothing and no shoes.
