Looking Good

How your looks can be affected by breast cancer
We understand how very traumatic breast cancer can be and the effect that this can have on how you look. Surgery can leave you feeling disfigured and unfeminine and losing your hair, eyebrows, eyelashes and pubic hair as a result of chemotherapy can leave you feeling stripped naked. All of these experiences are traumatic to the body, mind and emotions. For some people the impact of breast cancer on how the body looks and feels is the most devastating aspect of the disease.
How we can help
The Haven offers help and advice to help you cope with these difficulties. We run Hair and Make-up sessions and bra fitting sessions at all our Havens.

The Look Good Feel Better programme is a free cancer support service for women undergoing treatment for cancer. In partnership with 41 leading hospitals, the charity has developed a nationwide programme of beauty workshops offering hands-on make-up techniques to help restore the visible side effects of treatment. Ladies attending Look Good…Feel Better workshops are presented with a wonderful gift of products and are taken through a 12-step skin care and make-up regime by professional beauty advisers. The two hour sessions are lots of fun and a real morale booster.
