What we do
The Haven is dedicated to providing totally integrated care to people with breast cancer free of charge.
For people who cannot reach one of our three Havens in London, Hereford or Leeds they can access help from our outreach programme which includes online resources, help on the phone, DVDs and information leaflets.
The Haven’s web-based information is certified by The Department of Health’s Information Standard.
How we help
From our research and Visitor (patient) feedback, we firmly believe that the counselling and complementary therapies we offer can help people cope better with the emotional issues around breast cancer, relieve some of the symptoms associated with medical treatment - like hot flushes, nausea, anxiety, restricted movement; as well as make sense of what has happened and move forward in whatever way works best for them.
We in no way endorse a non-medical route to treating breast cancer. At The Haven we offer additional support.
Our patients - or Visitors as we call them - are extremely positive about the care that they receive from their medical teams. But some just also need a little extra care and support away from a medical environment. They are welcome here at any point - from diagnosis right through to long after their treatment is complete. We also provide help and emotional support to family and friends.
The information included in this website’s ‘How we can help you’ pages will tell you more about what we offer and how we work, but this section gives some information designed specifically for medical professionals.
We hope you will tell your breast cancer patients about us and encourage them to come and see us. Our Visitors tell us that we are extremely helpful at this difficult time in their lives.
Come and see us to experience what we do.
We invite you to come to one of our free Away Days held at The London Haven, The Yorkshire Haven and The Hereford Haven designed specifically for healthcare professionals involved with breast cancer care. You can learn more about how The Haven’s in-depth programme of support can help your patients. You can also sample some complementary therapies and take part in some relaxation and healthy eating sessions that may be helpful in your busy and often stressful roles, find out more and book you place on an Away Day in London, Yorkshire or Hereford.
What the experts say
