Pamela HealyPamela Healy, OBE - Chief Executive

Pam recently left the Ministry of Defence after a 30 year career working either as a civil servant, part-time Royal Naval Reserve Officer or a regular Royal Naval Officer. During her time as a civil servant she was Head of Regional Communications for Defence; Director of Armed Forces Day and most recently member of a Task force set up by Prime Minister David Cameron to rebuild the Military Covenant.

Pam has a strong background in event management and was awarded the OBE for ‘inspiring leadership and professionalism’ as Director of Communications for Trafalgar 200 (International celebrations of the Bicentennial anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar in 2005).  Previously she was PR Director for the International Festival of the Seas in 2001. 

In her civilian career Pam was Marketing, PR and Fundraising Director for the Cutty Sark Tall Ships race in 2002 and during the 1990’s she worked freelance as a Marketing and PR Director.  She was Fundraising Director for Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland in the early 1990’s and between that and her full time naval service she worked in industry in sales, marketing and event management.

She has always had an interest in complementary therapies and is absolutely delighted to be able to join The Haven.  Last summer Pam walked the Inca trail to Macchu Picchu for Breast Cancer Charity Walk the Walk.  Most recently she took up the challenge of walking a marathon in Iceland, The Moon Walk, for the same cause.

Caroline HoffmanDr Caroline Hoffman, PhD - Clinical and Research Director
Caroline has specialised in integrated healthcare for 25 years both in the NHS and voluntary sector. Her last NHS role was as the first Nurse Consultant in Cancer Rehabilitation at the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. Caroline’s long-standing expertise in psychosocial support, nursing and complementary medicine enables her to lead the teams of specialist nurses, therapists and researchers across all Havens.

Following the success of her PhD research evaluating the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) programme in a randomised controlled trial of 229 women treated for breast cancer atThe Haven,  in 2011 she collaborated with the complementary medicine researchers from the University of Southampton and taught on a qualitative MBSR study for 19 women with metastatic breast cancer funded by National Institute of Health Research. She continues to teach MBSR at The Haven in London. These courses are open to all.

Caroline is a member of The National Cancer Research Institute Complementary Therapies Clinical Studies Development Group and on the Advisory Board of the journal Complementary Therapies in Clinical Practice.

Simon LanyonSimon Lanyon - Operations Director
Simon worked for the commercial sector in business information for over 20 years. He was Managing Director for 10 years of the largest media monitoring company outside the USA. He is a Trustee of a number of charities and became involved with The Haven as a Volunteer. He now oversees all finance and support services.

 

 

Lucy French - Fundraising Director 

Lucy joined the Haven in the autumn of 2010 as Fundraising Director.  Her career spans both the private and voluntary sector. Lucy worked for 10 years in banking at Barclaycard, specialising in Marketing and Project Management, after a number of years on their Management Development Programme. 

After a career gap to attend University College London as a mature student, Lucy then decided on a new career in the voluntary sector.  She worked for 5 years at the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) as Head of Membership and Marketing, and has held senior fundraising positions at East Potential, Clubs for Young People, and Addaction.

Hannah Daws - Head of Marketing & Communications

Hannah has specialised in communications for the past 15 years working for a wide range of public and not-for-profit organisations. She started her PR career as a Press Officer for the Arts Council of England when major projects such as the the National Lottery Good Causes and the ‘Angel of the North’ and were launched. She went on to work in similar roles for an arts PR consultancy, the British Film Institute and NESTA (the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts). After taking a year’s career break travelling and volunteering across South East Asia, Hannah headed up communications for the charity Crimestoppers where she led on the highly successful, fugitive hunting campaign, Operation Captura, in Spain and the Netherlands. Most recently she has led communications teams at the drug and alcohol treatment charity Addaction and the national volunteering organisation, TimeBank.

Away from work two hobby passions dominate Hannah’s life; Tottenham Hotspur and scuba-diving which has taken her to the most remote regions of the globe.
